What we do:

The Nephrology service offers consultation and treatment for all types of structural, functional and infectious disorders of the kidneys and urinary system. Our multi-disciplinary team of physicians, a nurse practitioner, nurses, social workers and dieticians work together closely to provide comprehensive, personalized care.

For patients with renal failure, we provide incenter hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis, as well as inpatient dialysis services. We offer several forms of continuous renal replacement therapy for critically ill patients. We actively promote renal transplantation, and provide pre- and post-transplant care here in our pediatric transplant center.

When a kidney biopsy is required, we offer a minimally invasive percutaneous biopsy, with real-time ultrasound guidance when necessary.

We have clinic locations in Corpus Christi, McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen, Laredo and Victoria. A special clinic for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus provides collaborative care with both a pediatric rheumatologist and a pediatric nephrologist present.
