Our 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides maximum monitoring and support of pediatric patients of all ages who are at risk for, or suffering from, acute life-threatening conditions. The PICU is staffed by board certified pediatric critical care intensivists, nurses with special certification in pediatrics and pediatric critical care, pediatric residents, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, registered dietitians, physical and occupational therapists, child life specialists, pastoral/spiritual care specialists and support staff.
Our multi-disciplinary PICU Team provides the most sophisticated medical and surgical care needed for pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood. This includes preoperative and postoperative care of patients undergoing major cardiac surgery for repair of congenital cardiac defects, complex neurosurgical procedures, severe trauma, major pediatric surgery including transplantation, and the entire spectrum of critical medical disorders.
Our board certified intensive care physicians are in the hospital 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week to provide the very best care to our patients.

Description of Services:
Pediatric intensive care for infants, children, adolescents and young adults with critical medical or surgical conditions. Our PICU offers state of the art technologies for the care of critically ill patients, including Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy, nitric oxide therapy advanced hemodynamic monitoring and High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV), to name a few.
Ground, helicopter and fixed wing air transportation arrangements for critically ill patients are coordinated by the Pediatric Intensivist and monitored through the Children’s Hospital Transport Dispatch Center. Multiple conferencing capabilities enable real-time consultation with appropriate specialists.
