Hematology:
Consultative assistance in the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with blood diseases such as:
- Acquired and hereditary anemias
- Neutropenias
- Disorders of leukocyte function
- Thrombcytopenia disorders
- Abnormalities of platelet function
- Hereditary and acquired coagulation abnormalities
- Histiocytic disorders
Oncology:
Diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic management plans for infants, children and adolescents with malignant diseases such as:
- Leukemia
- Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Hodgkin's disease
- Wilms' tumor
- Neuroblastoma
- Rhabdomyosarcoma
- Ewing's sarcoma
- Osteosarcoma
- Brain tumors
Driscoll Children’s Hospital (DCH) Department of Hematology/Oncology is proud to be affiliated with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). COG is a network of more than 230 member institutions that treat patients with specific cancer diagnosis exactly the same way according to detailed protocols. Treatment and results data are analyzed, reviewed and shared worldwide. Through our affiliation with COG DCH is able to offer our patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, including: Phase 2-4 therapeutic, non-therapeutic, biology and long-term follow-up studies. The hematology/oncology clinic offers patient and parent support through monthly support group meetings, individualized care with social worker, pre-teen and teen camps.
