The Pharmacy at Driscoll Children's Hospital has gone "state-of-the-art". Driscoll recently purchased and implemented a centralized robotic drug distribution system. This new equipment utilizes automated storage, retrieval, and dispensing of medications, as well as bar-code technologies. The three-phase system can dispense medication quickly and error-free while freeing up Driscoll pharmacists, allowing more time to be spent with patients and their families. To date, systems similar to the one that Driscoll recently purchased have dispensed more than 365,000 drugs error-free.
