(Corpus Christi, TX) Join in on the media frenzy as the paparazzi will be snapping pictures for sure! Here for one day only, Driscoll Children’s Hospital will host some “celebrity patients” for a walk down the red carpet on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 3 p.m. during the hospital’s first-ever Celebrity Celebration. All tiny VIP’s were either featured in the 2007 Calendar, 2006 Christmas Card series, or the first-ever holiday CD. All three projects are fundraisers coordinated by the Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

True to form of any Hollywood-style soiree, the star-studded event will treat Driscoll’s extra special guests to the lap of luxury. Young celebrities will arrive on the red carpet at 3 p.m. followed by an hour-long autograph and interview party. A limousine will quickly whisk them away at 4 p.m. for a VIP after-party.

NEW THIS YEAR! 2006 Singing Angels – Holiday CD
This precious holiday CD is filled with the angelic voices of Driscoll’s Oncology Patients led by
local jazz singer and cancer survivor, Jeanne Brenz. Together the sing holiday favorites such as Feliz Navidad and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

The 2006 Holiday Card series features original art created by patients during a stay in the hospital. 2006 card artists include:

Driscoll’s 2007 Calendar features patients from all over the hospital and from many of the 33 counties the hospital serves. The theme for 2007 is “Healing Humor.” Each month, featured patients crack jokes helping us all to remember the importance of laughter and fun. 2007 Calendar models include:

Since opening its doors in 1953, Driscoll Children’s Hospital has been offering hope and healing to the children of South Texas for half a century. The facility is a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric board-certified specialists representing 19 medical and nine surgical specialties. Each year, more than 6,000 children are admitted for inpatient care, 5,000 for day surgery, and 50,000 for outpatient primary and specialty care, as well as 40,000 for emergency care, as the first South Texas hospital with emergency services exclusively for children. Additionally, Driscoll maintains a state-of-the-art ground/air transport team, 20-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 40-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and specialized medical outreach.
