KIDS HELPING KIDS!


WHAT: 23rd Annual Cattleman’s Roundup


WHO: Local 4-H members, as well as local barn owners and managers, ranchers and agricultural businesses, will combine efforts to help the kids of South Texas. Special lunchtime auctions will be held during breaks from regular livestock sales action at auction houses. Items up for auction will include donated livestock, as well as baked goods and gift baskets.

WHEN: Tuesday, June 19th @ approximately 11:30 am (lunchtime auction)

WHERE: Halletsville Livestock Commission-Halletsville, Texas

WHY: The grass root community fundraising event will benefit Driscoll Children’s Hospital and its young patients. 100% of this year’s proceeds will aid in the purchase of a new ambulance. Last year’s events raised $88,000 for the purchase of a new ambulance. The transport team travels more than 120,000 miles a year throughout South Texas. Driscoll’s critical care transport services offer emergent, timely, comprehensive, advanced medical services for neonatal and pediatric trauma, acute cardiac and respiratory events, as well as emergency surgical and medical needs, 24 hours a day, several days a week.

Since opening its doors in 1953, Driscoll Children’s Hospital has been offering hope and healing to the children of South Texas for half a century. The facility is a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric board-certified specialists representing 19 medical and nine surgical specialties. Each year, more than 6,000 children are admitted for inpatient care, 5,000 for day surgery, and 50,000 for outpatient primary and specialty care, as well as 40,000 for emergency care, as the first South Texas hospital with emergency services exclusively for children. Additionally, Driscoll maintains a state-of-the-art ground/air transport team, 20-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 40-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and specialized medical outreach.
