(Corpus Christi, TX) Driscoll Children’s Hospital is excited to announce plans for the 16th Annual Fiesta de los Ninos, presented by Flint Hills Resources, at a Kick-Off Press Conference on Friday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. in the 4th Tower Playroom. Driscoll officials as well as Fiesta committee members will receive a $50,000 check from Flint Hills Resources.

Fiesta de los Ninos is a major annual fundraiser for Driscoll and has become one of the most successful charity events in the state of Texas. Led by long-time sponsor Flint Hills Resources, the event has raised more than $3.5 million dollars in 15 years for various patient programs.

“Each year, Fiesta de los Ninos generates thousands of dollars for patient programs at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, thanks in part again to Flint Hills Resources as the event’s founding and presenting sponsor.” said Steve Woerner, president and chief executive officer, Driscoll Children’s Hospital. “

“Flint Hills Resources remains committed to this important event that has raised more than $3.5 million for Driscoll Children’s Hospital,” said Phil Gaarder, vice president of manufacturing, Flint Hills Resources and Corpus Christi complex manager. “We salute the outstanding services the hospital provides – including many that are not available anywhere else in this region.”

The 16th Annual Fiesta de los Niños will be held Friday, Feb.1, 2008 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi. In addition to a silent, bidboard and live auction, featured entertainment includes country singer Rick Trevino. Since opening its doors in 1953, Driscoll Children’s Hospital has been offering hope and healing to the children of South Texas for half a century. The facility is a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric board-certified specialists representing 19 medical and nine surgical specialties.
