DRISCOLL CHILDREN’S SPECIALTY CENTER PATIENTS RECEIVE A DOSE OF HOLIDAY CHEER
IN THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER

Christmas in July Toy Drive
Thursday, July 19, 2007 l 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Driscoll Children’s Specialty Center, Brownsville, Texas
5500 North Expressway77

(Brownsville, TX) Despite the record-breaking temperatures across the state, Christmas is coming early this year. The Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Specialty Center, Brownsville will host a Christmas in July Toy Drive on July 19, 2007 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. The toys donated are needed not only in preparation for the patients’ Christmas party, but also for everyday use. “Every child is given a toy after their visit with the doctor,” says Dionicio Garza, Auxiliary Chairperson.
The clinic treats children from age 0 to age 21, so a variety of toys is needed. All donated toys should be new and unwrapped and brought to the Specialty Clinic in Brownsville at 5500 N. Expressway 77. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given away. All are invited to participate in this day of sharing.
Since 2003, the Rio Grande Valley volunteer arm of the hospital has contributed thousands of hours playing an active role in supporting the Valley Clinics in both McAllen and Brownsville. There are 30 volunteers in the McAllen clinic who gave 7,500 hours last year and the 10 volunteers in Brownsville contributed over 2,400 hours. The two clinics received approximately $10,000 in community donations.
