DRISCOLL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AND KOHL’S DEPARTMENT STORE HOLD FREE CAR SEAT CHECK Kohl’s Department Store (Corpus Christi, TX) Child safety seat checkups routinely discover that nine out of ten children are not properly restrained in appropriate car seats. Through a partnership with the Kohl’s Department Stores, Driscoll Children’s Hospital and its Injury Prevention Department will hold a free car seat check at Kohl’s Department Store on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Unintentional and preventable injuries are the leading causes of death for children under the age of 14. In addition, many parents are unaware that their child’s car seat is not properly installed, or realize the life and death choice of fastening a seatbelt or wearing a bike helmet. Kohl’s recognizes that hospitals care for more than just the critically ill child. They are advocates to protect children, educate the public and pediatricians and create new therapies for childhood illnesses. Kohl’s has supported Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s Injury Prevention program since 2003. Their commitment through the “Kohl’s Cares for Kids” program raises funds for children’s health and educational opportunities through the sale of special gift items. Net profits from the sales support children’s health and educational opportunities in the market areas served by the department store.
