Driscoll Children's Hospital HOSTS 2nd Biennial Conference on Diabesity
in Children and the Family (Corpus Christi, TX) This two-day symposium is designed to provide pediatricians, family practitioners, internists, endocrinologists, resident physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with a comprehensive review of type 2 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents. Nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, exercise physiologists and social workers involved in the multi-disciplinary approach to care of diabetes will also directly benefit from attendance to this program. The Diabesity Conference objectives will provide state of the art clinical information on the epidemic of type 2 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents. It will improve understanding of current controversies in the early detection and prevention of type 2 diabetes in children. It will also increase the participant's knowledge of obesity prevention and management in children and adolescents through lectures, case studies, and Interactive Group Response System. Hospital Happy 50th birthday! Since opening its doors in 1953, Driscoll Children’s Hospital has been offering hope and healing the children of South Texas for half a century. The facility is a 200-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric board-certified specialists representing 19 medical and nine surgical specialties.
