Guidelines for Submitting Research Protocols
DCH IRB will review and monitor all research conducted under its jurisdiction. Protocols that are submitted for the committee review need to follow the DCH IRB approved guidelines. These are outlined in the DCH Guidelines For Submitting Clinical Research Protocols.
Investigators should submit 20 copies of the documents needing full committee review in addition to the original. For Expedited Review of documents one copy should be forwarded only.
Investigators and their research teams are required to meet the educational requirements prior to commencing any research activity. This is outlined in the Educational Requirements.
IRB Criteria for Research Study Documents Approval
- The research is scientifically sound and feasible.
- The risks are minimized and proportionate to anticipated benefits.
- The selection of subjects is equitable.
- The written informed voluntary consent/permission/assent provides full disclosure of potential risks and benefits and meets DCH criteria.
- There is provision for continuous audit and monitoring.
- Maximum effort is made to protect patient and family privacy.
How to Reach Us
The Driscoll Children's Hospital Institutional Review Board is available to provide information and guidance to participants in clinical research studies and their families regarding their rights as Human Research Subjects. The Institutional Review Board is available to advise and inform investigators who are submitting clinical research protocols and monitor approved research activities in its jurisdiction.
