Institutional Review Board
The Driscoll Children's Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) was first
established in 1993. Its purpose is to oversee all research activities under
its jurisdiction and protect the rights and safety of human subjects during
their involvement in these research activities. Human subjects include our
patients and their families as well as employees of Driscoll Children's
Hospital. Research activities include use of investigational drugs and/or
devices, questionnaires, patient related documents, body fluids or tissue,
etc., when these materials are used for research purposes.
The DCH IRB is responsible to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department
of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office for Human Research Protection
(OHRP), and the Driscoll Children's Hospital institutional regulations.
This IRB holds a Federal-wide Assurance of Protection for Human Subjects
issued by the DHHS assuring compliance with all Federal Regulations and
accepted International Regulations that govern human subject research in
the United States and Internationally.
How to Reach Us
The Driscoll Children's Hospital Institutional Review Board is available to provide information and guidance to participants in clinical research studies and their families regarding their rights as Human Research Subjects. The Institutional Review Board is available to advise and inform investigators who are submitting clinical research protocols and monitor approved research activities in its jurisdiction.
