Number of Students: 1, per 4 week rotation

Rotation Hours: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Prerequisite(s):

Information must be submitted to Medical Student Coordinator. For more information call (361) 694-4069. Physician Preceptor will give approval for rotation.

Goals-The faculty will strive to:

Basic airway management skills
Basic IV access skills
Basic pain management
Basic sedation skills
Basic monitoring vital sign skills

Objectives-At the end of the rotation, the student will be able to:

Bag mask ventilate
Intubate endotracheal routine cases
Start simple peripheral IVs
Take basic vital signs

One-on-one teaching in OR with Attending Anesthesiologist

Evaluation:

Clinical Evaluation Form (100%) to be completed by the physician preceptor with whom the student has worked.
