Location: Orthopaedics Clinic and Operating Room
Duration: 4 Weeks

Rotation Hours: Contingent upon physician’s schedules
Prerequisite(s): 4th Year Status
Goals-The faculty will strive to:
- Teach and demonstrate the basic principles of obtaining a good history and how to perform a good physical exam.
- Teach the basic and common conditions common in pediatric orthopaedics.
Objectives-At the end of the rotation, the student will be able to:
- Take a good history
- Do a very good physical exam
- Basic knowledge of reviewing x-rays
- Basic splinting and casting techniques
Learning Activities:
- For consultations, the student will perform initial evaluations on in patient admissions and provide daily follow-up
- Daily rounds with the attendings on the inpatient service
- Morning Report attendance is mandatory
Learning Resources:
- Medical Library on hospital campus and on the Texas A&M College campus
- Journals and Books
Evaluation:
- Clinical Evaluation Form (100%) to be completed by the physician preceptor with whom the student has worked
