Use of library materials: 

All books can be checked out from the library, including reference books. Journals may not be taken from the library.  Library users may photocopy journal articles for free inside the library. 

Hospital employees may check a maximum of 3 circulating books out of the library for 3-week loan periods.   Employees may also check books out of the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Bell Library using your Driscoll badge.  Present your ID badge at either library to have a library barcode attached to your badge.  DCH employees may not borrow media (slides, video, etc), journals or reference books from the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Library.

Texas A&M University Corpus Christi faculty, staff and students may check out a maximum of 3 circulating books from the Driscoll collection.  Present your TAMUCC ID card to check books out.  TAMUCC patrons may not check out reference books, journals or media from the DCH Library.

Interlibrary loan:

Hospital employees may request books or journal articles not available at our library by filling out a request form in the library, e-mailing us, or calling the library.  Please provide complete citation information.  Free interlibrary loan service between local libraries is currently provided by the Coastal Bend Health Information Network; articles not available locally are ordered from Information Link, a commercial information provider.  Interlibrary loan service is free to hospital employees. 

Reference assistance:

The library has six computers with access to the Internet, several online journal indexes, PREP, Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics, e-mail, word processing and other programs.   A flatbed scanner, slide viewer, VCR, and typewriter are also available.
