Kidney patients enjoy a week at Camp Rockn’ in Rockport

About 30 Driscoll Children’s Hospital kidney patients enjoyed a week at Camp Aranzazu for Camp Rockn’ (Reaching Out to Children with Kidney Needs). Campers, who range in age from 7-18, participated in a nature trail, kayaking, fishing and swimming, while also learning more about their illnesses from Driscoll Children’s Hospital physicians and camp counselors. The camp counselors are relatable to the campers because many of them are former Driscoll kidney patients and Camp Rockn’ attendees. The camp provides a week of independence and fun for children with transplants, on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis or with chronic kidney or urologic problems and provides a safe respite from their families.
