Rehabilitation patients take stage tomorrow for Driscoll’s 10th annual Holiday Spectacular

CORPUS CHRISTI – For the 10th year, performers are ready to take the stage for the annual Holiday Spectacular at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. This annual tradition, to be held tomorrow in Driscoll’s auditorium, brings together the talents of patients from the Rehabilitation Services Department, their families and friends, and guest performers.

Rehearsals for the show began in October with Driscoll’s rehabilitation patients, who are invited to participate regardless of their abilities.

“It is so heartwarming to watch children who are faced with challenges every day perform for their families and friends,” said Susan Fields, Driscoll director of Rehabilitation Services. “They get to experience the process of putting on a first class performance. And we as parents and caregivers get to celebrate with them. This is really what the holiday season is all about.”

The show will include performances of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” a scene from “The Nutcracker” and a very special Nativity. It will be directed by Driscoll’s Christine Carter, a speech-language pathologist and dancer with the Corpus Christi Concert Ballet, and Heidi Lathrop, a physical therapist at Driscoll and former dancer. Additional performances by the Corpus Christi Concert Ballet will take place between the children’s performances.
