Driscoll physician to be honored at San Antonio’s Jingle Bell Run

CORPUS CHRISTI – Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s pediatric rheumatologist will be recognized as the Medical Honoree at this year’s Jingle Bell Run in San Antonio.

In her five years at Driscoll, Melissa Mizesko, MD, has dedicated herself to helping her patients deal with the crippling effects of juvenile arthritis. One cause very important to her is the Arthritis Foundation, the sponsor of the Jingle Bell Run.

“The Arthritis Foundation is critical in funding research which has aided in discovering new treatment options that I am able to offer as a pediatric rheumatologist,” said Dr. Miziesko. “I believe supporting the Arthritis Foundation is one way I can ensure research continues and more opportunities for treatment will arise for those who suffer from the effects of arthritis.”

Dr. Mizesko and her team, Driscoll’s Rheum Defenders, will be one of many participating in the Jingle Bell Run, a national event organized to raise funds and awareness to cure America’s No. 1 cause of disability.

The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 1-4 p.m. at Valero Energy, 1 Valero Way, in San Antonio. All money raised will go toward arthritis research.
