Rehabilitation patients prepare for pomp and pageantry at Driscoll's Holiday Spectacular

CORPUS CHRISTI - Rehearsals have already started for the ninth annual Holiday Spectacular at Driscoll Children's Hospital. Patients from the Rehabilitation Services Department, their families and friends, as well as guest performers, will take the stage in Driscoll's auditorium Dec. 14 for what has become a bona fide community tradition.

"The Holiday Spectacular provides children with all ability levels an opportunity to fully participate in this childhood rite of passage - the Christmas pageant," said Susan Fields, Driscoll director of Rehabilitation Services. "It is such a heartwarming experience for families and staff here at Driscoll to see kids just be kids during the holiday season. Personally, this pageant marks the beginning of the holiday season for me - it brings home what this season of sharing is really all about."

The show will include performances of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and excerpts from "The Nutcracker." It will be directed by Driscoll's Christine Carter, a speech-language pathologist and dancer with the Corpus

Christi Concert Ballet, and Heidi Lathrop, a physical therapist at Driscoll and former dancer. Additional performances by the Corpus Christi Concert Ballet will take place between the children's performances.
