Young patients at the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Driscoll Children’s Hospital had a beary happy Valentine’s Day, courtesy of a local nonprofit organization.
Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation spread love and cheer among the patients Feb. 14, providing them with arts and crafts, sweet treats and the chance to build their own bears from Build-A-Bear Workshop.
“We are so happy Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation brightened up the day for our patients,” said Cynthia McMinn, Cancer and Blood Disorders Center Clinical Coordinator. “The children had a great time creating and customizing their own teddy bears.”
Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation, founded by the late pediatric patient James Ragan, was created to improve the lives of children with cancer by raising their spirits, raising public awareness and funding research to improve the treatment and survivability of pediatric cancer patients.
