"Paws Up" Volunteers at Driscoll Children's Hospital

If you are at Driscoll Children's Hospital on Thursday or Sunday afternoons, you may have come upon one of our DCH volunteer Pet Partners-registered, Paws Up teams visiting our patients and their families.

Paws Up, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer human services organization dedicated to improving people's health and well-being through positive interactions with animals.

Local Paws Up members provide animal-assisted activities at Driscoll and other area hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living centers. Paws Up also provides a dog-assisted children's reading motivation program, "Tails for Tales."

Paws Up is a Pet Partners Group Affiliate organization. Pet Partners, headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, is the leader in promoting and demonstrating that positive human-animal interactions improve the physical, emotional and psychological lives of those it serves. Pet Partners provides 'gold standard' therapy animal curriculum and training and inspires people to volunteer with their pets in their local communities.

Every Paws Up dog that visits DCH has been temperament tested, and both dog and handler have passed the Pet Partners registration program. So, it's a well-trained, registered Pet Partner team of dogs and handlers that you will see in action at DCH. All Paws Up handlers visiting Driscoll Children's Hospital are also members of the Driscoll Hospital Auxiliary.
