Volunteering

Giving of your time and talent

Distributing toys, reading books, cuddling babies, directing guests, playing in the playroom and assisting in The Carousel Gift Shop, The Cookie Connection or The Cottage Shop are a few ways you can help enrich the lives of our patients and families.

Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital

Volunteers are members of the Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital who give their time and hearts to the children of South Texas. Each year, the Auxiliary contributes to several Driscoll events and conducts numerous fundraising functions, such as the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, the Neonatal Intensive Care Reunion and the Radiothon, as well as many other patient and family centered activities.

Placements are scheduled according to openings and the volunteer’s availability. Daytime, evening and/or weekend assignments are available.  We ask that you commit to a minimum of two to four hours per week, 100 hours total, for a six month period.  Learn more about the areas where our volunteers support patients, families and staff through service areas.

If you need an application mailed to you, please contact us.

Upon completing an interview and a clear background check, you will be required to attend an orientation, submit to a TB test (requiring a blood draw), a flu vaccination and an immunity test at no cost to you.

Members of the Auxiliary pay $5 per year in dues to cover costs of a required Driscoll uniform top and a photo ID badge. Volunteers are also required to complete annual training as applicable to their volunteer position.
