Driscoll Children's Heart Center offers excellence in pediatric and congenital heart care using state-of-art facilities. The cardiology program has been providing quality, compassionate care to our patients in South Texas since1962. The Heart Center has the largest network of consult services available to the health care providers of the region. The staff also fulfill an educational mission by serving as faculty to the Texas A&M College of Medicine.

Annually the Heart Center perform approximately:

  • 9500 clinic visits
  • 3500 echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds)
  • 300 surgeries
  • 250 interventional procedures

The Heart Center provides:

  • Fetal evaluations
  • Neonatal evaluations
  • General cardiology consultation for:
    • Heart murmurs
    • Chest pain
    • Heart rhythm
    • Syncope (passing out)
    • Sport participation
  • Non-invasive imaging including:
    • Trans-thoracic echocardiogram
    • Trans-esophageal echocardiogram
    • Cardiac MRI/MRA
    • High resolution CT with 3-D reconstruction
  • Exercise testing
  • Electrophysiologic study and ablation therapy
  • Pacemaker implantation and testing
  • Interventional cardiology including:
    • Device closures of ASD's, VSD's, and PDA's
    • Balloon valvuloplasty
    • Stent therapy
    • Coil embolization
