Health Information ManagementHealth Information Management maintains records of all patients treated at the hospital or in the ambulatory clinics, and transcribes all patient dictation (excluding pathology reports).

Reports transcribed include:
- history and physical examination
- operative reports
- discharge summaries
- clinic visits
- consultations
- transport summaries
- EEGs
- cardiac cath reports
- radiology reports
- physical, speech, and occupational therapist evaluations
- therapy visits
Copies of transcribed reports are provided to dictating and referring physicians. Assistance is provided with quality assurance review activities and medical records are coded for billing patient claims. The department also provides research data through the Physician's Workroom.

Utilization Review:
This department performs admission and concurrent review of inpatient medical records against screening criteria for payment approval, and maintains communication with third party payors regarding the documented necessity for continued stays.
