Ian, 4, Victoria, TX

Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery

Small babies with big hearts! When Ian was born he was diagnosed with complex cardiac heart defects which required his air transfer from Victoria to DCH in Corpus Christi. The Driscoll pediatric paramedics transported Ian at only a few days of birth where pediatric cardiovascular surgeons - Dr. Mark Morales and Dr. Mark Bielefeld performed an Interrupted Aortic Arch procedure to repair his heart vessels. Ian required a lot of care from the entire pediatric cardiology physicians group and their team of cardio professionals in order to recuperate successfully. However his parents felt at ease to receive so much support from the staff who made them feel comfortable understanding what was happening with their first child. Although Ian and his recuperating little heart had to spend Valentine’s Day at DCH, he was able to go home on February 22nd to spread the love with his entire family. Today, Ian is a Pre-Kindergarten kid who enjoys being extremely active and riding his tricycle.
