Big Smiles, Bright Spirit! Osbaldo “Ozzie” was born with cleft lip and palate. As a newborn, pediatric orthodontist Dr. Deji Fashemo, worked with Ozzie doing a procedure called Naso-Alveolar Molding Therapy which helps bring the cleft segments closer together by wearing a specialized appliance in his mouth. The process involves care of 4 times per day and is worn 10-12 weeks with weekly visits to the doctor for adjustment’s, follow up care, and instructions. After this treatment, Ozzie was able and ready to undergone several surgeries with pediatric plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Hubli at DCH to repair his cleft lip and palate. He has overcome all odds with the outstanding support and dedication of his loving parents. Currently, he is a very active child at home who loves stuffed animals, likes to dance, and listen to music.
