La muerte de un ser querido es uno de los retos más difíciles que puede enfrentar una familia. Los niños sufren el dolor de manera diferente que los adultos y dependiendo de su edad y nivel de desarrollo, su interpretación de la muerte no siempre es igual a la de un adulto.

Lean On Me (LOM) es un grupo de apoyo de duelo que dura seis semanas estructurado para niños y familias que han sufrido la pérdida de un ser querido a través de la muerte.

Está diseñado para proporcionar apoyo no terapia, los niños se desarrollan mejor en un grupo si pueden estar con compañeros de la misma edad. Permite a los niños la oportunidad de conocer a otros niños de su edad que han tenido una pérdida. Los niños deben tener 6 años de edad para asistir.

Duelo es un proceso familiar y afecta a todo el sistema familiar. El grupo para adultos se reúne simultáneamente.

Los grupos de apoyo son facilitados por un Especialista de Vida Infantil, Trabajador Social y un Capellán. Las sesiones del grupo de apoyo se ofrecen en primavera y otoño y se llevan a cabo en las instalaciones del Hospital Driscoll.

Un campamento de duelo de un día (Camp Lean On Me) se lleva a cabo en el campamento de Aransazu y se ofrece en el verano.
