Telemedicina, en un sentido más amplio, es el uso de la información electrónica y las tecnologías de comunicación para proporcionar y apoyar la prestación de atención a la salud mediante la conexión de puntos de necesidad con los puntos de atención.
Servicios disponibles:
- audiovisual de calidad, telemedicina y servicios de aprendizaje a la distancia para su campus de Hospital y clínicas remotas
- servicios especializados de pediatría para los pacientes, médicos y otros profesionales de la atención a la salud utilizando aplicaciones computacionales avanzadas y tecnología de comunicación por banda ancha.
La capacidad del Hospital Pediátrico Driscoll para ofrecer clases clínicas y trabajo de curso, Rondas Hospitalarias, Juntas de Tumores y reuniones administrativas utilizando una red de videoconferencia robusta continua desempeñando un papel importante para apoyar nuestra misión y divulgación ayudando a mejorar el acceso y la calidad de atención a los niños(as) del sur de Texas. Desde nuestro núcleo central en Corpus Christi, la red de telemedicina abarca una región de 33.000 millas cuadradas a lo largo del sur de Texas y partes de México. Los servicios se han ampliado ahora para incluir a nuestros vecinos internacionales a lo largo de México y las Américas.

Nuestra Tecnología
La red de telemedicina del Hospital Pediátrico Driscoll consiste en un diseño de eje central y sus radios. El eje central consta de un puente de Video de Polycom MGC 50 capaz de llamada basada en IP de LAN interna y ISDN (RDSI) externa y llamadas públicas basada en IP. Localmente conectado al eje central, varios puntos finales de videoconferencia Tandberg utilizados para la enseñanza a distancia / con fines de administración y consultoría de telemedicina. Hay estaciones de trabajo Vitelnet tácticamente ubicadas dentro de varias oficinas de subespecialidad médica en todo el hospital.
El diseño de la red de radios privados se extiende desde Victoria, Texas, en el norte hasta ciudad Victoria, México, en el sur. El diseño se compone principalmente de una arquitectura IP base T-1 con banda ancha DS-3 hacia las Clínicas de subespecialidades de tecnología de punta del Hospital.
