Driscoll Children’s Hospital was recognized as one of the outstanding hospitals in the nation for excellent customer service at the recent 22nd annual NRC Picker Patient-Centered Symposium in San Diego.
Driscoll received the 2016 Excellence Award for the most improved overall satisfaction hospital rating in the children’s hospital category from National Resource Corporation.
Driscoll was selected based on the results of the Fiscal Year 2016 Patient Experience Survey, which is sent to a randomly selected group of patients after being discharged. The survey measures patient experience, asking the patient how he/she would rate the healthcare provider, on a scale of 0 to 10, with 9 and 10 being the highest score.
The award was presented to Jon Roberts, MD, Director of Pediatric Pulmonology at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, who is pleased with the importance the hospital places on patient satisfaction.
“Caring for patients and their families is more than just getting the diagnosis right. Engaging the child, showing empathy to a stressed parent, and simply asking how the day is going may turn a run-of-the-mill doctor visit into a memorable experience,” said Dr. Roberts.
