Pharr Sunrise Kiwanis donates $5,000

Teamwork and volunteerism are making things better for children at Driscoll Children’s Medical Plaza-McAllen.

The Pharr Sunrise Kiwanis Club donated $5,000 to the Auxiliary to Driscoll Children’s Hospital-McAllen  for various projects.

The funds will help the Auxiliary replace old playscapes with new ones in the lobby play areas for children to stay active and entertained as they wait to see the doctor.

The money  also will go toward college scholarships for Cardiology and Oncology patients and for gifts for children during special hospital events throughout the year.

“We are truly thankful to the Pharr Sunrise Kiwanis for the generous donation. Their generosity and kindness will help bring smiles to our young patients at Driscoll, and for that we are very grateful,” said LaHuan Guthrie, Driscoll Children’s Hospital Development and Volunteer Coordinator.

The Auxiliary relies on contributions and donations of gift items from the community. To donate or to inquire about volunteering opportunities, call (361) 694-5011 or see our website at
