Driscoll Cystic Fibrosis Center awarded $57,000 grant

John Roberts, MD, FCCP

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Driscoll Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center was awarded a $57,925 grant by the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation.

The award supports the Center’s maintenance of a registry of its cystic fibrosis patients. “There are dozens of cystic fibrosis care centers across the country, and each is tasked with maintaining a large registry containing nearly every CF patient in the U.S.,” said Jon Roberts, MD, FCCP, Pediatric Pulmonologist and Program Director of the Driscoll Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center.

“In order to maintain that standard of care, the CF Foundation awards ‘registry’ grant money each year to help support the staff and equipment necessary. The amount awarded to us depended on the number of CF patients and, more importantly, how up-to-date and complete were our data,” said Dr. Roberts.

The CF Foundation has increased its award amount to Driscoll since the Center’s start in 2015; this year’s award is the largest yet. “This is all thanks to our wonderful CF team, our patients and families,” said Dr. Roberts.
