Driscoll kidney transplant patient celebrated at water park

Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s kidney transplant patient Marshall Miguez was celebrated with a party in his honor for him and 100 friends at Hurricane Alley Water Park. Five-year-old Marshall was born prematurely at 29 weeks and was taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Driscoll Children’s Hospital where it was discovered there was something wrong with his kidneys. Marshall underwent dialysis four times a week and waited for a kidney transplant. During that wait, it was discovered Marshall also had a malignant tumor on his liver. The tumor was removed, followed by four months of chemotherapy treatment. Then, in November 2012, Marshall, who was 3 at the time, received a kidney transplant at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Marshall, who has had 42 surgeries, still comes to Driscoll twice a week for check-ups. As part of the live auction at the annual Fiesta de los Niños, Rabalais I & E Constructors donated $20,000 to Driscoll Children’s Hospital so they could sponsor this event.
