CORPUS CHRISTI – The 27th annual Fiesta de los Niños fundraiser for Driscoll Children’s Hospital grossed $830,000 for the children of South Texas at The American Bank Center Exhibit Hall on Feb. 8. More than 1,500 people attended the event.

Funds raised will support the purchase of a new state-of-the-art Dual Energy/Ultra-Fast CT (computed tomography) scanner for the Radiology Department at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Driscoll officials say they chose the advanced technology of the CT scanner because it offers faster scan times, less radiation exposure to patients and sharper 3-D imaging.

The fundraiser featured silent, bidboard and live auctions, a barbecue dinner and live entertainment by country music artist Cory Morrow.

“We extend a special thank you to our title sponsor, Flint Hills Resources, as well as the many generous supporters and community volunteers who have assisted Driscoll Children’s Hospital in enhancing our services and programs for the children of South Texas,” said Martha Avery, Vice President, Development, Driscoll Children’s Hospital. “Also, many thanks to the hard-working committee, numerous volunteers and generous supporters who contributed to the mission of Driscoll Children’s Hospital,” she said.

Employees of Flint Hills Resources, the title sponsor of Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s Fiesta de los Niños since its inception 27 years ago, were proud to do their part for the children of South Texas.
