Driscoll patients to be treated like stars as holiday cards unveiled
CORPUS CHRISTI – Past and present Driscoll Children’s Hospital patients will be treated like Hollywood stars Wednesday when the hospital’s 2015 holiday card collection is unveiled. Patients whose art was chosen for the release will walk down a red carpet, greeted by camera flashes and applause, and autograph their work for their adoring fans – their family, friends and Driscoll staff.
For this annual tradition, Driscoll patients from throughout South Texas created artwork for 10 holiday cards, and community members selected the artwork to be used. The children’s artwork will be unveiled after they enter Driscoll’s auditorium.
“This is definitely one of the Auxiliary’s most anticipated events of the year; lights will be flashing and chocolate milk will be flowing after the card designs are revealed,” said Lizette Saenz, director of Volunteer Services. “We look forward to rolling out the red carpet and putting the spotlight on our Driscoll stars, giving them a chance to shine.”
Proceeds from sales of the items will go toward the Auxiliary’s Marcia K. Wilcox Scholarship, which has benefited more than 96 Driscoll cancer patients since its inception. The designs for the holiday cards also are made into t-shirts, ornaments and sterling silver charms. All items can be purchased through Driscoll’s website (www.driscollchildrens.org) and at the hospital’s Carousel Gift Shop.
