Based on the assessed needs of children and families, social workers draw on a variety of clinical intervention strategies, including crisis intervention, basic counseling, locating and arranging resources, case management and advocacy. Staff are familiar with community resources throughout our geographic area and work to link families with the services that will help them following discharge from the hospital. Social Work services are available 24-hours per day, seven days a week to ensure that urgent and emergent psychosocial assistance is available to patients/families and the healthcare team.
This is a weekly activity group where families join in for some relaxing scrapbooking, blanket making or seasonal crafting. Usually held on Thursdays at 3 p.m. on the 5th floor of the main hospital.
There are many support groups offered at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, as well as throughout the Corpus Christi community. If you are interested in finding out about a specific support group, please contact the Social Work Department for more information.
