Rehabilitation Services

Outpatient Rehabilitation has achieved three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as a Pediatric Specialty Interdisciplinary Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Program.
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and family-centered therapy program to help each child reach his/her potential. Through the coordinated efforts of the primary care physicians, medical specialists, rehabilitation team and family, we tailor a program to meet the individual needs of children with various diagnoses. Rehabilitation Services are provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings as prescribed by the physician.
Specialty Programs and Services
- Adaptive Equipment
Children referred to the rehabilitation team will be evaluated for equipment needed to improve their ability to interact within the community. The equipment needed by a child could include specialized wheelchairs, walkers, standers, adaptive bathing equipment, adaptive feeding equipment and dressing equipment.
- Assistive Technology
Children who benefit from this lab have been referred to rehabilitation services to improve their ability to access their environment through technological support. The support provided by this lab could include adaptive toys, environmental controls and/or speech output devices.
- Cochlear Implant Program
Children referred to this program are scheduled by their Ear, Nose and Throat doctor to have a cochlear implant placed due to profound hearing loss. The audiologist and speech language pathologist work with the child so that he/she is able to adjust to his/her new hearing abilities.
- Sports Medicine Rehabilitation
Children are referred to this program for orthopedic injuries usually attributed to sport participation. They are evaluated and treated by physical and occupational therapists with an emphasis on returning the patient to their prior level of athletic function and performance. Rehabilitative care and education is given with particular attention paid to the correction of movement dysfunction and the prevention of further injury.
- Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
Children are referred to this program by a pediatric physician for strengthening and/or better coordination of pelvic muscles so that elimination patterns are normalized.
From January 2020 to December 2020, Rehabilitation Services provided care to 2,910 patients from a variety of backgrounds.
